When do u push 'r' to go into repair mode to repair windows xp?

I put the bootable XP in, push any key then wait till it gets to the partition screen and then I push 'r' and nothing happens, my only options are to delete partition, settup XP or make partition, how do I go into repairmode ???

I think you don't press any key and let it load i think it will come to a screen then that asks what you want to do. I think.... i know i've seen it just can't remember exactly how to do it

Insert bootable xp, restart your comp, press and hold "del" key to enter setup screen. Go to 2nd advanced options and in sub options select cd rom as first boot device instead of floppy which is by default). Save and exit. Now it will ask you option to boot through cd rom press enter and it will take you to install screen which gives option to press "r" to try and repair the existing windows or enter to do a new installation. you have to get up to the re-install windows xp screen, then 3 options will appear:

1) install windows XP
2) enter recovery console (repair mode)
3) cancel

you have to press r or something like that to get into the recovery console, but to get to that point, just act like your going to install windows XP
