Can i install windows xp off of a USB stick?

Hi i have a netbook msi wind and i need to reinstall windows xp and like boot to disk but with no cd drive anyway to like if i turn the cd into a .iso and put it on a usb drive and boot to usb can i install thru that without haveing to spend money on a external cd drive? any way to install without a external cd drive?

In theory...i suppose you could....You would need to have quite a large memory stick though (big enough to store all those files)

If i were you, i would just buy an external CD drive off eBay

They are pretty cheap

I've HEARD of this being done, but never successfully seen it, and there are a few things that suggest that it won't work.

If you want to try, you can see if your bios will let you boot from the flash drive. It may or may not work.Like I said, never tried.
