Default problem with speakers after reinstalling windows xp?

I just reinstalled windows xp on my computer and I noticed that whenever I try to play a game or watch a video I can't get sound. Do I have to reinstal the wardware with a cd or what?

I checked control panel - sound and audio devices - volume, and it says No Audio Device. 10 pts for person who solves my problem.
