Hi,
I will be starting the 3rd year of a BSc in Computing in October, but the course isn't covering anything to do with network administration, and this area interests me.
I have MS Virtual PC 2008, and i have Windows server 2000, and have just downloaded the trial version of Windows Server 2008 ( 60 day trial i think).
I really would like to try to get to grips Worth the basics of Active directory, I know there is plenty of info available on the net, but prefer and learn better by hands on experience.
I was considering Installing Windows Server 2000 or 2008 on Virtual PC, and then creating 2 or 3 other installations of XP (on seperate virtual PC's) to act as clients.
Would this work? or is there another solution which will enable me to actually use Active Directory?
Thanks you in advance for any advice!

When we started the course we were given a copy of Windows Server 2000. And I found the 2008 edition available as a trial. Maybe the 2003 edition is available as a trial as well, if so, i will download that.
I never thought of asking for work experience at uni, thats a good idea, thanks.
