Default How do I repartition 2-disk hard drive in Windows XP? My C drive will not

allow me to repartition in Disk Mgmt I've got a hard drive that currently has a 2 GB C: drive and an 8 GB D: drive. My desire is to simply eliminate the partition if possible or at least repartition the drives more evenly. I can repartition D, but C does not give me that option. I have tried FDISK, but it's too old to work with XP. And I do not have an XP startup CD, but I do have an XP Upgrade CD.

You will need a 3.5 inch boot disk with fdisk and format programs on it. Put the disk in and boot it up. Run fdisk.exe to partion it. Shut it down and reboot then run format c:/s
You will have to do the same for the other drive.

What you said about your C Drive is Basically Correct, If It contains your OS ( Operating System ), you can not delete it this way.. If you had a Good Copy of XP, a A Drive Disk ( floppy) with a copy of any "Start Disk" and a A Drive Disk ( floppy) with this file ( DELPART.EXE ). You would have to:

1. Istrall the A Disk with the Start Disk Files. Then Turn On Computer.
2. Once the A drive finally gets to " A/ ", Replace with the A Drive with the file " DELPART.EXE ". Press " ENTER " and follow instructions to REMOVE what ever you want gone,
3. After you ' Finish ", you will have to " Reinstall your OS

Before I would do all of this, I would strongly suggest, put in a slightly larger HDD, say a 160 GB, 10 GB is almost a waste of time to Format. you could use the 10 GB as a small backup.
Good luck dave05624
