Default why wont windows media player let me watch dvds that i put into my hard drive?

it said that i dont have a proper dvd decoder...whats that mean? is it something i have to download from the computer? if so, where can i get one for free?

because dvd has digital rights! bye pass with ANYDVD software should work perfect then or just download a free dvd player software and watch it that way
