Why do schools block Myspace and Facebook?

Too many of the myspace and facebook pages have "inappropriate" material, so they all get blocked. Yeah, it sucks that everyone has to suffer for the actions of a few...but like others said here, you're in school to learn, not dink around on myspace, facebook or any other social networking site. Wait till you get home and finish your homework.

If we were allowed to have myspace at school&home, how much work would get done.....NONE! I agree we should have limited time to go on Myspace/Facebook/AIM. And if someone found out information about you on the interent at school the school could get in a lot of trouble.

It's very inappropriate for a school enivorment and its an distraction. People come to the computer lab and to use a computer to do "school work", but they can't because half of the lab is on facebook or myspace.
