| I'm looking to upgrade my computer and Intel quad and dual core chips are essentially on parity regarding prices. Q9400 Yorkfield = E 8600 Wolfdale Q6600 Kentsfield = E 8500 Wolfdale I understand that quad cores outperform dual cores regarding multitasking. But at what level of multitasking are we talking about here? The most I run at any given time is 1) a music player like Win-amp 2) bittorrent (nothing illegal =p Mainly unlicensed anime) 3) World of Warcraft 4) Usual background stuff like Avast, etc. Is that enough to justify going for a quad core over a dual core? And if so, is there a big difference between the Kentsfield and Yorkfield architectures? Thanks for reading and any future advice =) |

| I think that buying older technology is pointless for your future computer needs. You don't even "need" dual core for what you mention. You wouldn't consider getting single core, so by the same reasoning you shouldn't consider dual core either. Welcome to the 21st Century! |
