In the bios, how do I make my dell xps 600 boot from the dvd drive?

I posted this in the dell forums, but they aren't very helpful:

Ok, you guys gave my a recovery dvd for xp with my system (an xps) when I bought it, but, now that I want to reinstall my OS so I can format my hdd, I can't boot from this disc because it is a dvd. In the boot sequence menu in the bios, only the cd-rom drive is listed. The dvd-rom drive is no where to be found. How do I add it to the list instead of the cd-rom drive. There must be a way. I don't know why you would have even given me the reinstalation dvd in the first place. It would be the dumbest thing ever.

I don't think your dvd is recognised by the system or it is not connected properly.

Are you sure you have a DVD DRIVE?
