Default My SD drive will not read disks!?

My husband has tried low SD disks and I only have a 1GB disk and neither disks will work in the drive. I have opened the driver software and it says its working properly. I have tried restarting the computer, leaving it in everything, nothing will work. I don't know what to do from here. If anyone has any kind of ideas I would greatly appreciate it.
