Hot 8600GT + S.T.A.L.K.E.R. = artifacting?

Hey all, I am having some issues with my video card and STALKER: Shadow of Chernobyl. Currently, I am running it on an 8600GT 512MB video card in DX9. I am able to have res. set to 1240x1024 and most settings on high with little lag. However, whenever there are weather effects (lightning, rain, etc...) it is only displayed as artifacts. (not the kind in the game lol). I check the temp. of the GPU and it is at 68+ Celcius. Would a deacent GPU cooler fix this problem? Thanks!

Absolutely a decent GPU cooler would solve this problem. Check www.anandtech.com for some GPU cooler reviews.
